Soil located on alluvial deltaic plains formed on accumulated sediment depositions by time, show large variety in their properties at short distances. Therefore, different soils can be form on these lands. The objective of this research was to determine different soil properties and for mapping formed on alluvial deposit and different fluvial landscapes. This study was carried out in Fener village and its near vicinity located at Bafra district of Samsun province. Total study area covers about 1923.3 ha. After examination of topographic, land use, geologic and geomorphologic maps and land observation, 9 profile places were excavated in the study area. Detailed land observations were done with grid method (250 x 250 m) and auger examinations. The soil samples were taken from each profile and their analyses were done in the laboratory. By assessing the results of analyses and field studies, 9 different soil series were determined and described. In this study firstly, detailed soil map scaled 1:25.000 and soil data base were generated using GIS programme. In addition these soils were classified as Entisol, Inceptisol and Vertisol according to Soil Taxonomy and Regosol, Fluvisol, Gleysol, Cambisol and Vertisol based on FAO/ISRIC. Also, the study area has been used as intensively agricultural activity so, suitability of soil series was investigated for the agricultural production and soil properties limited production were determined and some suggestions were given to solve these soil problems.
