Assessment of basin sediment yield has great importance for the studies on planning, protecting and managing soil and water resources. With this study, sediment yield was determined in the Kızılkoyun Basin, with an area of 8.26 km2. Sediment accumulation in the reservoir was calculated by bathymetric studies in two different years in the reservoir at the basin outlet. The sediment yield of the basin was estimated as 2.14 ton ha-1 year-1. Basin sediment yield was also determined using two empirical methods: the USLE and the EIEI methods. According to the USLE, the maximum amount yield of yearly sediment expected from a basin unit area was estimated as 25.16 ton per hectare and the basin sediment transmission rate as 0.09. The sediment yield obtained with the emprical transmission rate equation did not produce close results to the actual yield values. The basin sediment yield according to the EIEI method was found to be 1.31 ton ha-1 year-1.
